Default Docking/Cropping Ban

Lately I have seen several areas propose cropping and docking bans. Most of the time those proposing them are PeTa types and they sound good, but did you consider that most places still have farms where they keep animals in less than plush conditions, they punch holes in their ears to put in id and some still brand, all done while the animal is wide awake. Let's not even go to the place where animals are loaded into transports for the long ride to the slaughter-house.

As long as we still neuter steer without anesthesia, neuter goats, sheep, and horses the same, way - what are our legislators thinking when they decide to propose bans on docking and cropping which are done in the vet's office under anesthesia????

I just don't get it. It is still legal to have your male child circumcised when they are born - what gives with these animal rights people and their agenda????

honestly, I'm against docking because I think it's cruel to get rid of tails and ears that the dog has. It's something they were given and it was given for a reason!

However, I agree with you. At least it's done when the animal is medicated and thankfully cannot feel a thing. The other things people do is horrid!

Docking is done to keep the dog clean and to keep him safe.

They have been docked for 2,000 years. And I hold them for the vet so know that the screaming starts as soon as you pick them up at that age. Something about preservation I think. If I make enough noise, the big monster will drop me.

If the vet uses novocaine they don't feel it and are over it in seconds.

I have held them when the vet refused to use novocaine and they do feel that but are over it as soon as it is over.

I would not go to that vet again for docking. Ever.

Thanks for your comments. It is good to know how everyone feels.

Why on earth would the vet refuse to use novocaine? I'm not entirely for the procedure but take some comfort in the idea it doesn't hurt them. That seems like it would cause needless suffering for the poor animal.

I am quite interesting in this topic hope you will elaborate more on it in future posts and I hold them for the vet so know that the screaming starts as soon as you pick them up at that age. Something about reservation I think. If I make enough noise, the big monster will drop me.

Default Exactly!

Preservation. When you pick up a newborn puppy and I will guess the same for kittens, you get wriggling and screaming. The more noise the better, maybe I can wriggle free or scare the predator.

This whole issue goes to our rights as owners of animals. Once the government is in charge, watch out.

Your dog will be able to have an attorney - Cass Sunstein wants it.

U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, has introduced legislation to create a tax deduction for pet owners’ expenses related to their pets.

Used to be that pet expenses were deductible if you bred and sold puppies. Now they would have equal standing with the IRS as your children and other dependents.

The world is gone mad.
