Homecooking or BARF! If this is not possible then a high quality kibble like Innova, California Natural Flint River Rnahc, etc. look up "kibble" and "bad" and read-up on kibble before choosing a brand. Nat GoldensAdored.com BARFprocon discussion group |

Nutro is good. My Husky gets sick on everything but Nutro's Natural Choice Lamb meal and Rice formula. Amber |

Eukenuba and Iams aren't very good. They have fillers in them. They used to be really good foods, but they haven't done anything to improve their foods in years. I would suggest NOT feeding these. Here is a website for the Pet Shop I used to work for. They can give you some really good information. http://www.bensonspet.com/ Amber |

The best of the best in dog food for size and even breed spacific is Royal Cannin. It is an Ultra Primium food. It is specialy formulated for the size and activity of a dog. Ukenuba and Iams is the same company, and they SUCK!! Nutro is a very good food. It is not an ultra premium, but it is a premium. For any Canadians... CanPro is a very good dog food. Science Diet should be thrown in the garbage with the Iams products. Grocery store foods are junk. Soft food is mainly moisture, and can rott your dogs teeth. Nice to use as a gravy once in a while, but that is about it. Please note that these are my views and may not be the same for other people. |

I feed my 8 yr old Springer "Chance" Bil Jack because of his skin problems, and it works really well for him. As for my other 2 show Springers (Tully & Bentley), I feed them Iams. I find that it really gives them a beautiful coat that just shines in the show ring. The only thing I do not like about Iams dog food is that it makes their breath stinky, but other than that, I have been really satisfied with it Katie Barklay English Springer Spaniels ~Where Sprigers are more than just companions~ www.angelfire.com/blues/clues525/Barklay |

BARF is best, but if you want to feed kibble, you can try Wellness, Innova, Royal Cannin and several others. Look for kibble with all natural human grade ingredients, no preservatives or fillers, etc.In my opinion, store foods like Eukenuba and Iams are garbage.

I need help with my 10 month old pom who refuses to eat dog food. I have tried Waltham, Nature's Recipe,Authority, and numerous store brands. I recently went on line and found some recipes and started preparing his food. He loves chicken and beef. I'm just afraid that these recipes may not give him the nutrients he needs. He is very spoiled and I tried not feeding him, which resulted in a 5 day hunger strike and I gave in and gave him people food again. At this point I'm desperate because I don't know what to do and I want to do the best thing for my pet. Please HELP!!!

Raw chicken necks, wings and backs, and raw beef marrow bones are nutritious and safe for your dog. Here`s some BARF info you may want to check out. http://www.njboxers.com/faqs.htm |

As a new person to your forum, I thought I toss in my 2 cents worth. If you are looking for a food to feed your dog my opinion is to feed them ONLY "real food". In other words raw foods. I switched our kennel of German shepherd Dogs over to raw a few years back after feeding supposedly top quality kibbles and finally decided after loosing a few dogs to cancer at young ages to feed them real food. We did extensive research into raw feedings vs kibble products in conjunction with about 3 of the top vets in Canada and the U.S.A. My suggestion to anyone wondering about what to feed is to pick up a book called The Nature Of Animal Healing by Dr. Martin Goldstein before making any decisions. This is just one of the many books out there that will help you make an informed decision. I had the priviledge of having a number of conversations with his brother Dr. Robert Goldstein and what an eye opener that was. I'm positively convinced that feeding kibble no matter what the quality is and regular vaccinations causes too many problems too numerous to mention. Hope this helps! Best Regards Doug |

I feed my Dane Eukanuba and found that Nutro was crap. She did not do well on it at all. Her coat got really flaky and her skin dried out. She started to actually lose weight while she was on it. I stopped feeding her that and put her on Eukanuba large breed and she is doing really well on that. Her coat shines and she is actually putting some of her weight back on. Guess it all has to do with the dog. My rottie did really bad on anything other than Medi cal fish and potato, he had such bad allergies. mommy to Cleopatra-Great Dane Bane-Chihuahua Demon-Ferret Stubs-Beardie Trinity, Matrix, Blackjack, Morpheous-Leopard Geckos Damien-Ball Python Snake-Snow Corn Lucifer-Red Tailed Boa |
