Default Re: Lipoma (fatty tumor)

I have a 8 yr. old black lab. About 1 year ago I noticed a lump on his side. Over protective mom that I am, I immediately took him to the vet. Upon examination and testing he determinted it to be a lipoma (fatty tumor). They can be removed, but like the vet said - why do it when he's not experiencing any pain. Essentially, it's not bothering him, however lately I've noticed it's gotten considerably larger! I can touch it, press on it, etc. and he is not in any pain. I'm just concerned. Has anyone else had this problem with their Poochie?

I would recommend another visit to the vet. I had a collie who had many of these fatty tumors and they never caused her any harm, but then they didn't bother her either. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck
