Well, once it stops raining, that is. I'm installing a 250 gallon rockgarden pond this year after several years of "thinking about it". It's going to be more of a water garden than a fish pond, with only a few native fishes for mosquito control.
Anyone else here thinking of setting up a pond/

My husband and I purchased a brand new home last August and the back yard is just weeds. I have been thinking about putting in a pond, but I don't know much about the filtration or anything. Also, how do you tell how many gallons it is? I am thinking of an irregularly shaped pond, mostly circular, about 10 feet in diameter and about 3 feet deep. Any idea how many gallons that would be?

Default spring is here...time for a new pond

Your pond would be about 400 gallons if I did the math correctly. For a pond this size, I would advise one of the Tetra pond filters. They have two types: pressurized (like a swimming pool filter; http://www.tetra-fish.com/catalog/category.aspx?id=126) and non-pressurized (http://www.tetra-fish.com/catalog/category.aspx?id=127). I would suggest the pressurized as it filters better than the non-pressurized one. Tetra also has a great online pond booklet at http://www.tetra-fish.com/Downloads/...traPondWGG.pdf .
