We noticed our female budgie, who is currently laying her 3rd batch of eggs, has a crick in her neck...like her head is tilted to one side..she doesnt straighten it at all. This started after she laid her first egg which was about 3 days ago. The first day we noticed we just thought she was tilting to look at something but now we noticed again she's doing it and watched carefully and realized its stuck like that. We're very concerned..could this be a stroke of some sort? possibly from pushing out eggs? or maybe a disease? she's still chirping and can walk around fine but her head is drooped to one side. Any help and/or links are very welcome!! |

It almost sounds like some sort of neurological problem. That would have to be determined by an avian specialist. Watch her closely. If she is actively and responsibly incubating her new clutch, I would probably wait for the time being and see how things progress. Cathleen Director customer service PetsWarehouse |

I went to the AAV.org web site and there are only 8 avian vets listed for Oregon and the closest one is 3 1/2 hours away(one way).. :-/ I am still in school and my parents work= not really any time to drive that far. The bird is still active and seems to act fine (aside from her head being tilted)...so i dont know..i guess we'll just really keep an eye on her |
