"Cecil" has been with us for about 5 weeks now. She is doing well, eating and drinking and an occasional squawk (she's usually pretty quiet). We really enjoy it when she talks to us. The problem is we haven't seen any results as far as taming goes. She'll get on your finger briefly, but soon flys away (not very far, her wings are clipped). When we hold her, she bites, not real hard, but she bites nontheless. Are we rushing the process? We have read that some birds won't tame. We wouldn't be upset if she doesn't tame, but we would like to know. Would this affect having another bird and it's taming process?

When you're handling the bird get it away from its cage go on the floor in middle of the room. If he/she jumps off just get it back on your hand, you can do this for about 5-7 min without stress. Two or three sessions should be enough or you need to explain in detail what is going on. Bob Administrator Petswarehouse.com |
