Dogs and cats will soon be getting some first-class treatment when they fly.

People who travel by air with their pets can put them on Pet Airways.

"USA Today" reports the country's first pets-only air carrier is being launched on July 14th.

The planes will carry no human passengers, but there will be human attendants to check on them as they're flown in lighted and pressurized cabins.

The introductory fare is 149-dollars each way.

Initially, only Baltimore-Washington International Airport and non-commercial facilities in New York City, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles will be served.

The airline will fly each route once a week.

However, pets can accumulate "pet points" as frequent flyers.

Pet Airways is the brainchild of Dan Wiesel and Alysa Binder.

The husband and wife team have mapped out a strategy for their enterprise that includes expansion to 25 cities in the next couple of years.

They believe they've found just the right specialty market and that pet owners will support them with a lot of demand.

Both are pet owners and say pet comfort and peace of mind for owners are the main objectives of Pet Airways.
